GRACARO Team on Medical Outreach Campaign<\/p>\n

There is a clear and often increased need for community-based primary health care in both acute and protracted humanitarian settings. Health facilities are not accessible to large portions of the population and often suffer from deteriorations in service provision and utilization during crises.<\/p>\n

GRACARO can assist in delivering a wide range of services at community level,\u00a0 help increase access to essential health care services and can as well\u00a0 lead to large improvements in reproductive, maternal, newborn, and child health.<\/p>\n

Medical Outreach by GRACARO<\/p>\n

The objectives of humanitarian action in GRACARO are to save lives, alleviate suffering and maintain human dignity during and in the aftermath of man-made crises and natural disasters, as well as\u00a0 prevent and strengthen preparedness for the occurrence of such situations.<\/p>\n

Medical Outreach Campaign<\/p>\n

There is a need for greater understanding of experiences implementing community-based primary health care in humanitarian settings and of the adjustments needed to ensure continuation of essential services and utilization of services by the population, and to contribute to effective emergency response. GRACARO reviewed the evidence base on community health workers in humanitarian settings, with the goal of improving delivery of essential services to the most vulnerable populations.<\/p>\n
