International Day of Older Persons 2026 “The Age of Longevity: Rethinking Systems for Longer Lives”

People are living longer than ever before. That is a victory worth celebrating, but only if those extra years are lived with dignity, health and purpose.
Longer lives should never mean forgotten lives.
Because Every Older Person Deserves to Be Seen
On 1 October, GRACARO joined the global community in celebrating older persons. For us, this is far more than a day on the calendar. Older persons are one of our key target populations, and our week-long activities have one goal: to make sure they are seen, heard, respected and supported
This Year, We Brought the Celebration to Their Doorsteps
Real care begins with presence. So instead of asking older persons to come to us, we went to them.
- One-on-one conversations** with older persons and their caregivers, because every story deserves a listener
- Essential support. including selected non-food items (NFIs), supplements and Artemisia
- Practical awareness on non-communicable diseases (NCDs), nutrition, healthy ageing and compassionate caregiving
Our Message to the World
A society that values human dignity must value its older people. That means dignity, health, security, participation and purpose** at every stage of life.
Stronger Together

We commend HelpAge International for its longstanding global work championing the rights, dignity and wellbeing of older people, and for keeping ageing firmly on the development and humanitarian agenda. We also thank RECEWAPEC and all our local stakeholders who walk alongside communities every day.
How You Can Be Part of the Change
Check on an older neighbour. Listen to their story. Speak up for their rights. Share this message. Small acts of care add up to a community where no one is left behind.
To every older person in our communities:
You matter. Your voice matters. Your experience matters. Your dignity matters.❤️
Happy International Day of Older Persons 2026!
